You can access Google Play on Amazon’s $ 50 Kindle Fire – Geek

fire-six-pack

A few weeks ago, Amazon Introduced Their cheapest Fire tablet ever. You might think That the $ 50 tablet comes with a pretty limited experience, but not in this case. Turns out you can even shop for apps and games in the Google Play on it.

Not by default, of course. Like all Amazon’s Fire tablets, it ships with a pure Amazon experience. It’s easy enough to see why that’s the case, too. There’s not a whole lot of profit to be had selling $ 50 tablets ($ 43 if you’re willing to buy a six-pack), so the hope Is That Fire users will buy plenty of games, apps and media from Amazon’s virtual shelves.

The Appstore does not offer quite as many choices as Google Play, though, and there are a few key apps that you ‘will not find there – like Gmail, YouTube, and Netflix. Fortunately, getting them installed is not all that hard any more. You do not even need to root your Fire tablet to do it.

As Liliputing reported over the weekend, all you have to to is run a batch file put together by an XDA user forums. The script only takes a few seconds to complete, but you’ll want to wait a couple of minutes before opening up the Google Play is the ensure That Play Services has a chance to update itself before you go shopping.

If you’d rather not run a batch file, you can follow the step-by-step instructions the author has posted instead. You’ll also need to have ADB installed in order to get the Google Play running on your $ 50 fire. XDA members have made That a totally painless process, too: this post will help you get it going on your PC in no time flat.
