Amazon laid out all the cards on the table. Just yesterday there were rumors of a new e-book reader from the biggest online store in the world, and today the Prime Minister has become a reality. There have been two new models – Voyage and Kindle (simply).
The new Kindle is definitely a cheaper device from Voyager. Model of advertising costs 79 dollars., And the version without ads 99 dollars. Although the Kindle a lot different from the Classic model, it probably should be regarded as the successor to the basic version of Amazon’s reader offer.
The new Amazon Kindle, just like all its predecessors, is equipped with a 6-inch Pearl e-ink on the density of pixels at 167 ppi and 16 shades of gray. Importantly, it is the touch and therefore will not experience has buttons on the sides of the screen. All navigation will be based on touch.
Of course there is also WiFi 802.11b / g / n and 4 GB of internal memory. The Kindle has the dimensions 169 x 119 x 10.2 mm and weighs 192 grams. The manufacturer shall ensure that the used battery is enough for approximately four weeks of action, assuming that every day we read for about 30 minutes with WiFi turned off. The next model is the Kindle Voyage, that offer is still on Paperwhite’em, which means that it is at this point – at least in theory – the best and most expensive e-book reader from Amazon. The sale occurred until four variants of the device:
- advertising and WiFi at a price of $ 199.,
- without ads and free WiFi 219 dollars.,
- advertising, WiFi and 3G at a price of $ 269.,
- no ads, with WiFi and 3G at a price of $ 289.
Voyage also has a 6-inch screen, but Carta e-ink, which also distinguishes between 16 shades of gray, but the density of pixels per inch is already 300 . The display is a touch screen, but the manufacturer has given the opportunity to change sides by special haptyczny PagePress button located on the sides of the housing. Additionally, it is odświetlany, but word backlight not working as a model, Paperwhite, where we had a set of his intensity. Kindle Voyage has a light sensor, and on that basis alone adjusts the backlight, although this parameter can be set manually.
Interestingly, Voyage is slightly smaller and lighter than the Kindle model. Its dimensions are 162 x 115 x 7.6 mm and weight is 180 grams in a version with WiFi and 188 grams in models with an additional module 3G. Here also we have 4 GB of memory and WiFi 802.11b / g / n. The battery is capable of withstanding up to six weeks on a single charge, assuming that we will read 30 minutes a day with WiFi off and backlight set at 10 Charging via USB is expected to take approx. 3 hours.
At this point in Amazon’s offer are three ebook readers – Kindle Paperwhite and Voyage. In particular, the top model is extremely impressive, but it is also quite expensive, at least for the device from Amazon. For me still the most cost-effective e-book reader, with the best value for money is the possibility Kindle Paperwhite, which has and backlight and touch screen, 3G and even if you decide to make such a variant.
