Amazon boasts 'record' holiday shopping weekend for the Kindle - ZDNet

Summary: According this Amazon, this holiday shopping weekend was the “best ever for Kindle,” with customers clicking on buy more Kindle Fire tablets and Kindle e-readers than ever before.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this holiday season is going to be huge for Amazon’s Kindle ebook readers of range and tablets. And the word from Amazon HQ seems to back up this view.

According to the world’s biggest online retailer, this holiday shopping weekend was the “best ever for Kindle,” with customers clicking on buy more Kindle Fire tablets and Kindle e-readers than ever before.

This buying spree

propelled the Kindle Fire 7-inch HDX and Kindle Fire HD into the best-selling top spot on Amazon.com this holiday shopping weekend.

“We’re excited that so many customers have chosen the Kindle this holiday season – and it’s just getting started!” said Neil Lindsay, Vice President, Amazon Kindle. “Our new Kindle Fire tablets and Kindle e-readers are the best we’ve ever built, and we can not wait for customers is unwrap Their gifts this holiday.”

Personally, I think the Kindle Fire HDX is better than Apple’s new iPad Air. It’s cheaper, lighter, has a better screen, and storage costs are more reasonable if you want something beyond the base 16GB.
