E-reader prefers the Kindle, reads a lot, but want to pay less – Press Portal

Most of the e-readers enjoyed by men (56 percent.). As much as 67 percent. respondents are aged 25-45 years. The research carried out by Virtualo that virtual readers read an average of three times more than the paper readers. Polish e-reader reads 2.5 books per month.

One of the reasons for the increasing popularity of e-books is no economic barrier on the device – as readers range from 200 zł to 600 zł. In the group of the most popular reader is Amazon Kindle (73 percent.). Far fewer people are using other products: Onyx Boox (4.6 percent.), PocketBook (4.2 percent.), Prestigio (1.6 percent.). Readers reproduce e-books also on mobile phones (3 percent.) And tablets (6 per cent.), Of which two thirds are iPads and tablets from Samsung.

e-book publishers are forced to sell them cheaper by 10-20 per cent. in relation to the price of a paper book. However, most readers would pay even less – 50 percent. this amount. The average price of an e-book in the most popular category (fiction) is now 19,90 zł.

The report is based on research conducted in May of 2014 years by Virtualo in cooperation with Burda Media and Allegro. It was attended by 5500 people. The report uses the results of the survey “Let’s talk about quality.”
