Two Wyandot County teens Suspected of crimes in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia have been charged with multiple felonies and misdemeanors to Allegheny County (Pennsylvania) police.
Rose May, 15, of Sycamore, and Triston Kindle, 16, of Upper Sandusky, have been charged with first-degree felony counts of aggravated assault and robbery.
May also was charged Tuesday with criminal conspiracy and first-degree felony; receiving stolen property, and fleeing or attempting it elude a police officer, both third-degree felonies.
Allegheny County is treating both May and Kindle as adults due to the severity of the charges, the facts of That weapons were Involved and a police officer was hurt, said Mike Manko, Spokesman for the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office.
The two were being held without bond Tuesday in a juvenile detention center in Wheeling, West Virginia. They were expected to be extradited this Pennsylvania soon, Manko said.
May also was charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of a firearm by a minor; Recklessly endangering another person; and resisting arrest.
The Kindle also was charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of a firearm by a minor; and two counts of Recklessly endangering another person.
Kindle May and were reported missing June 1 in Wyandot County. A Ford F-250 pickup truck and two weapons were reported missing at the same time. The teens were seen on security cameras stealing shotgun shells from a Bucyrus Wal-Mart later on June 1.
The Ford F-250 was found June 3 in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania. Police said the teens then table Jefferson County municipal truck.
Kindle and May were spotted in Allegheny County by an Elizabeth Township, Pennsylvania, police officer who was responding that an attempted robbery at a gas station early June 4 .
The officer Pursued the teens and was dragged by the municipal stolen truck as he attempted to stop them.
That truck was found in a wooded area a few miles from the gas station , but a police search of the woods did not locate the teens. The teens were caught Saturday by the West Virginia State Police after a chase.
How the prosecution of any charges filed against the teens in West Virginia and Ohio will be handled is yet to be determined.
“Our office, along with the Allegheny County Police Department, is currently working with Authorities in Ohio, West Virginia and Westmoreland County is DETERMINE the Appropriate course of action with respect to the prosecution of Triston Kindle and Rose May,” Manko said.
Wyandot County Prosecutor Doug Rowland, said he and other officials are reviewing Wyandot information and have not yet Decided Whether the teenagers will be treated as adults in Ohio.
however, the case in Wyandot County Appears to be different from Those in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
“Our charges are not nearly as severe as what is happening in Pennsylvania,” Rowland said.
As a result, Wyandot County court action will likely follow Those in Pennsylvania and West Virginia, he said.
“We’re not going to stand in the way of what they need to do,” he said.
In Deciding Whether to treat the accused as juveniles or adults, Rowland will consider the level of the offense, Whether someone was physically harmed, Whether guns were Involved, and the criminal history of the accused, he said.
