Where to find the cheapest Kindle Paperwhite – OregonLive.com

This is part of a weekly series That compares prices on seasonal products. We’ve done the price-comparison legwork to find the best deal so you do not have it.

Still trying to figure out what to get Dad for Father’s Day? Items in beer-and-bike themed gift guides just do not seem right? Well maybe your dad is more of a bookworm in need of a new gadget.

Enter the Kindle. (I do not think anyone really needs a Kindle, but they do a lot of cool things.) The Kindle Paperwhite, originally released in 2012, is Amazon’s best-selling Kindle. It features a display That reads like a printed page, without glare. It also allows users to adjust font size and look up words as they read. And it holds thousands of books.

Maybe you want to get one for your dad; maybe you just want one for yourself. Either way, there are several retailers to choose from. While in the Amazon usually we exclude from our price comparisons because it offers unique prices to people based on several factors, the Kindle is an Amazon creation, so we felt we had to include it. Here are the prices we found:

Amazon.com: $ 119 (though it will not ship for several days)

B & amp; H Photo Video: $ 119 (comes with free expedited shipping, to arrive in 3 business days)

Best Buy: $ 119.99 (available to order or for in-store pick-up in 3-5 days)

Fry’s: $ 119 (out of stock in store and online)

Staples: $ 119 (available for home delivery in five days or in-store pick-up in 2 hours at select locations)

We organized this price comparison a little differently, because all the prices were exactly the same. (Except for Best Buy, Which tacked on an extra 99 cents.) However, though prices were the same, delivery methods and product availability varied greatly.

Bottom line: You want That Kindle right now? Head to Staples, after Clicking the “pick up today” button on Their site and plugging in your zip code. Your Kindle should be available in 2 hours, According to the site. (There were only three Kindle Paperwhites available within 10 miles of me when I checked, so inventory could be low.)

If you can afford to wait a few days, you could order it from B & amp; H. Ordering it from Amazon could take up to two weeks, and Fry’s seems to be completely out of stock. It looks like Kindles are in high demand.

Keep in mind That prices are subject to change, and That the best deal we found might not be the absolute cheapest price out there. We did not include Resellers like Ebay in our comparison because of the quick turnaround item, dynamic pricing strategies, shady dealers, and because we wanted to focus on new – not used – items. However, usually we Those are great places to check first when comparison shopping. If you find a retailer with a better price on this item, let us all know by commenting below.
