the report shows that in many countries the level of readership in recent years has decreased significantly, and many people have not read a single book. Without going into the reasons for this state of Affairs, Amazon plans to take measures that should improve the situation.
the American group has just announced a new initiative called Kindle Reading Fund, which supports the readership. The project company will support the reading programs conducted in the developing countries, giving free Kindle readers and Kindle Fire tablets. The devices will be available also for schools, libraries, hospitals, and nonprofit organizations from around the world.
to ensure that the device will fall into the right hands, Amazon has joined forces with a nonprofit organization called Worldreader, which provides e-books to children and families living in developing countries. This is not the first cooperation of that kind, because I used to both persons jointly presented digital books to 61 libraries in Kenya.
