If you produce your own movies and also want them to make money, the natural choice is YouTube. Soon this may change through Amazon Video Direct.
Amazon Video Direct is a direct response to YouTube. This is a new platform that allows you to put your videos on the Web. The service is geared to both professional studios and for individuals, or for ordinary users.
Among the major publishers to the site yet joined, among others, Guardian, Mashable, HowStuffWorks, Mattel, and Business Insider. If the platform proves successful, may bring with it the record labels with their music videos.
Nowa Amazon’s platform has a very powerful options to monetize page views
Author recordings can choose the distribution method for each film separately. Videos may be available to watch for free, but can be imposed on advertising, the income from which goes partly to the author of the recording.
Access to videos can also be paid and in several models of distribution based on a monthly subscription, rental, or shopping. You can also create a package of films and make them available as a paid add-ons for users of other video services Amazon, namely Prime Video. What’s more, the new service will allow the mixing of different ways to make money, so eg. the placement of ads in the movies borrowed money.
Developers get 55% of the revenue from advertising, which is exactly what YouTube. in turn, the partners who decide to pay the distribution, will receive 50% of revenues. If the developer decides to distribute the Prime Video, will receive 15 cents for each hour streamowanego material in the US and 6 cents an hour because users in other countries.
Few? Amazon will give one million US dollars for distribution. Every month!
Amazon has implemented a special program AVD Stars, which is to encourage developers to act. The company will spend every month a million dollars to distribute among filmmakers with the highest number of hits. The amount will be divided into 100 best films, so their authors will receive 10 thousand dollars. This is a bonus remuneration paid regardless of the revenue from sales and advertising. So it is worth fighting for.
But there is a catch, because talking about the Top 100 films distributed exclusively by Prime Video, and not all videos hosted on Amazon Video Direct.
This is an interesting option for developers, but is equally interesting for the viewers?
Amazon boasts a range of new services. But it is actually brag? So far Amazon Video Direct will operate only on markets where VOD service Amazon Video, or in the United States, Britain, Japan, Germany and Austria.
“The largest store in the world,” boasts also that the movies immediately will be available on all devices that previously serviced Amazon Video. These are the starters Fire TV, smartphones, tablets, consoles, Smart TVs and PCs through a browser.
The question is … what? Service starts with a pump, but will only be available in several markets. Assuming, however, that I live in the States, I see no particular reason why I should choose Amazon Video Direct YouTube instead. They could convince me my favorite authors, who postanowiliby move to the new platform.
Perhaps this is Amazon’s strategy to attract artists and audience. Money is to lure developers and creators of customers by closing other distribution channels. That seems unlikely. Even if this idea failed, it is an attractive offer monetization will continue indefinitely? At the moment I do not see.
By the way, Amazon could reflect on a more catchy names of their video services. Amazon Video, Amazon Prime Video, Amazon Prime Instant Video and the new Amazon Video Direct merge into one whole, and certainly does not make it easier for customers to find their way in the thicket of ever richer offer.
