Amazon Announces Kindle Voyage as the Next E-Reader Line – FileHippo News

Amazon has Announced the next step in the Kindle e-reader, named the Kindle Voyage. The successor to the Kindle Paperwhite, the Voyage comes with a few new features and a much clearer display, at 300ppi, it is the best e-reader display on the market.

In the past year, Amazon has taken a more relaxed route when it comes to the e-reader market. As Barnes & amp; Noble step away from first party manufacturing, in favor of Relying on Samsung, Amazon has clearly from scooped up the lion share of the readers.

 Kindle Voyage

The Voyage Kindle keeps the same 6-inch screen size, it looks like the Amazon thinks this is the perfect size for an e-reader. We can not complain, while tablets are still fighting over the 7 to 10-inch space, e-readers do not need to take advantage of That Extra Space.

Other changes include no raised bezel, letting the screen sit at the same level as the bezel. This was a big complaint with some of the Earlier Kindles. Amazon has also re-added touch buttons on the side of the Kindle Voyage, For those who do not want to swipe pages.

In terms of size and weight, the Kindle is almost identical Voyage to the Kindle Paperwhite. It looks like Amazon is more focused on iterative updates to the e-reader experience, rather than creating a whole new type of Kindle.

On the software side, X-Ray has been updated that allow users a State through Certain parts in a book. This will allow users to go back into the previous chapter, refreshing Their brain on the story, after a few weeks away from the book.

Amazon has also made it possible for users to link accounts they another, accounts using the share feature. This will allow family and friends to share books with one another, we are not sure on the rules for this feature.

The Voyage Kindle will cost $ 199 or $ 269, depending on if you want the WiFi or 3G version.

Amazon’s Kindle Fire will come with free news from the Washington Post – Engadget

Jeff Bezos runs Amazon and owns the Washington Post – is it any surprise That Those two entities might start getting a little cozy? According to a new report from BusinessWeek , the a group of folks at the Post are working on a sort of curated Washington Post app that’ll be preloaded on the forthcoming Kindle Fire HD tablet. The kicker? It’s expected to be totally free to Those Fire owners, and the app will roll out Eventually this other Kindles, as well as iPads and Android tablets … though owners of the latter will have to shell out a subscription fee. This is not the first time we’ve seen That Kindles and traditional reporting collide – let’s not forget That Amazon once made a ginormous version of the Kindle meant in part to make newspapers more palatable on an e-ink screen – but it’s a big, smart step for a media company That has its metaphorical eyes set on a national audience.

After all, just look at the numbers. Amazon has historically been cagey when it comes talking device sales, but if this deal pans out preloading, the Post’s readership could just explode. The folks in Seattle once said (years ago) That Kindle Fire sales accounted for 22% of all US tablet sales, and some back-of-the-napkin math suggests, Amazon That moved just under 5 million Kindle Fires back then. There’s no denying the tablet landscape has grown and shifted since then but man, that’s still a solid chunk of new readers for a newspaper That has less than half a million daily readers. Our only question: when other newspapers are going to clamor for that same juicy access?
